Health, Education, and Safety of children in Pakistan: results of the first six months

Ramadan charity activities marked the beginning of our year-long campaign. We’re happy to present the results of the first six months of cooperation with the Association for Women’s Awareness and Rural Development (AWARD). Their Health, Education, and Safety (HES) Program’s focus is support for children in twelve rural areas of Muzaffargarh, Punjab.

April and May were dedicated to selecting the twelve areas that needed our assistance the most and also to staff hiring and training. HES field officers informed local communities about the goals of the project and established connections with children, parents, and volunteers. They also held lectures informing community members about children’s needs and rights.

In June and July, HES representatives found approximately thirty school dropouts from each of the twelve areas and invited them to participate. AWARD rented spaces for preschool centres and reviewed teachers’ applications to prepare for their arrival. Apart from that, HES field officers delivered hygiene kits and educated children about the ways to preserve their health.

In August and September, all preparations were done: AWARD hired qualified teachers and opened twelve preschool centres. Children enrolled in them and attended their first lessons, supplied with books and stationery. Lastly, field officers of HES provided food packages to 300 flood-affected families of Tehsil Taunsa, helping them recover.

Children’s health, education, and safety are all essential to their personal happiness and their community’s future. That’s why we believe that HES is a cause worth fighting for.
