Helping Malaysian students achieve their dreams: Didik-Kasih EduCare Program

Back in April, six students received a year-long sponsorship from the Didik-Kasih EduCare Program supported by our team. The program is run by the Great Vision Charity Association. It provides students with start-up assistance and monthly study allowances. In addition to funding, GVCA also helps students acquire essential skills needed to give back to the community.

Here are the names of participating students and their majors:

  • Ashreen, Finance

  • Nivasheini, Medicine

  • Xiu Qi, Informational Technologies

  • Zhi Qi, Graphic Design

  • Hermawati, Business

  • Manushri, Business.

In June, Hermawati and Manushri volunteered to teach financial education to B40 families, while Niva conducted her group charity project to bring care to the elderly at Sahana Old Folks Home. Meanwhile, Zhi Qi organised a group charity project to teach orphans the art of tote bag drawing and participated in a traditional Chinese Hanfu activity with the Chinese Culture Society Club.

In July, Ashreen taught children the basics of financial literacy and prepared for her final exams. Her fellow students focused on their studies as well: Nivasheini was busy with her posting in neurology, Xiu Qi travelled to Selangor to commence physical classes, and Zhi Qi created her own food brand, logo, and packaging as a study project.

In August and September, Ashreen took part in Great Vision’s Merdeka Movie Screening and ran an Earth Warriors Day cleanup event together with Nivasheini, Zhi Qi, Hermawati, Manushri. Hermawati and Manushri have also participated in Rakan Shopping phone call assessment duties, and Nivasheini assisted the general medicine department.

All six students are already contributing to their local communities, even though they have limited time in-between study sessions and exams. We believe this is just the beginning, and their achievements in arts and sciences will keep making the world a better place.

It is you who made this program possible: for every 100 lots you traded in the holy month of Ramadan, we donated 3 USD of our own funds to charity. Thank you for your support!
