    An instruction given to a broker by an investor to buy or sell a security at a specified price. This order remains valid until the end of the trading day when the market closes. If the order is not filled by market closure, it will expire and must be renewed the following day. Day orders are commonly used by active traders who want to take advantage of short-term market movements.
